Hints / Tips / Advice

ADVICE

  • (Q). How often should a bait be changed ?
  • (A). Most anglers tend to leave a baited cast for about 15-20 minutes before winding back in. The norm is that it should be changed on every cast. If you are using 2 or 3 hooked rigs, don't be in a hurry to wind in on the first bite, leave it for another 2-3 minutes longer it may result in more than 1 hook being filled with a fish.

TIP

  •  When spinning or plugging for Bass, lower your rod tip into the sea as you wind in, because Bass are well known to strike at the last second, so don't stop winding until your lure hits the rod tip.
TIP
  • When fishing on the beach at night, it pays to have a reflector fitted to your base camp light, with the reflector pointing towards the sea so it casts a shadow. A lot of species of fish are spooked by light shining on the sea, especially those fish that venture close in looking for food.

ADVICE

  • Always dress according to weather conditions, at night the temperature can and does drop dramatically in the winter.
